About the District

The 17th District is bound on the north by Lombard St., on the south by Moore St., on the east by Broad St., and on the west by the Schuylkill River/Tasker Homes.  We are a part of the Philadelphia Police Department.

District Composite
The 17th District is 1.66 square miles. The population consists of approximately 41,328 residents. A racial breakdown is as follows: 31,141 - African-American residents 7,248 - Caucasian residents 2,137 - Asian residents 732 - Hispanic residents 70 - Other residents.

Business Information
The 17th District has five (5) significant business areas: South Street, Broad St. to 26th Street Point breeze Avenue, 1200-1700 blocks Grays Ferry Mall, 2900-3000 Grays Ferry Avenue Washington Avenue, Broad St. to 25th St. Broad Street, 500 to 1800 S.

Personnel 
The 17th District has approximately 20 supervisors, 139 police officers, and 6 civilians.
